Clearing out stubborn sinus congestion

Often at the tail end of a viral upper respiratory infection, it is common to experience sinus congestion deep within our heads that creates pain and pressure. Clearing this congestion is imperative to recovering fully and not attracting a second infection.

This remedy helps clear stubborn sinus congestion and reduce inflammation. It is very helpful for reducing pain and pressure that can accompany sinus congestion. For adults, I recommend 5 drops 3-6 times a day for 2-5 days.
The remedy consists of:
Hornbeam bud, which has a cleaning action on the nasal mucosa

European Alder that promotes immune function to protect against infectionsDog Rose, which strengthens the natural defenses and promotes detoxification through the lymphatic systemBlack Currant that reduces pain and inflammation

Eucalyptus Essential Oil
Eucalyptus has various medicinal properties including decongestant, antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory actions. To use this essential oil to reduce sinus congestion, combine 4 drops eucalyptus essential oil with ½ teaspoon of a carrier oil (olive oil, jojoba oil, apricot oil, almond oil, etc.) and rub on the soles of your feet before going to bed.
If you do not have eucalyptus oil…you can replace it with peppermint or thyme essential oils for a similar effect.

Foods to manage sinus congestion
Avoid foods that promote mucus formation such as dairy products (milk, cheese, yogurt, ice cream) and orange juice.
Increase consumption of foods that reduce inflammation and promote detoxification such as pineapple and pineapple juice, ginger, turmeric, cinnamon, onions, garlic, and watery foods (soups).
