Benefits of Full Spectrum Heat Therapy
• Better Detoxification
• Improved circulation
• Faster metabolism
• Increase in calories burned
• Strengthening of immune system
• Increase in system alkalization
• Decrease of pain in the nerves, muscles and joints
• Reducing inflammation
Sauna therapy was conceived thousands of years ago as a means for physical healing and relaxation. It works by heating the body, causing perspiration, one of the main ways in which the body removes waste material. Eliminating wastes by sweating directly lessens the toxic burden on the kidneys, liver, lungs, circulatory, and lymphatic systems. Heating the body also powerfully shunts blood toward the skin. This decongests the internal organs and greatly stimulates circulation. Sinuses, joints and many other tissues also benefit greatly. Given the prevalence of toxic chemicals in our lives, frequent use of a sauna is an excellent way to support the body and prevent serious health problems.
Many saunas are now heated by infrared light, which is the invisible part of the electromagnetic spectrum. Infrared light occurs naturally from the sun but is completely safe. Because infrared light heats the body directly rather than simply warming the air it penetrates into deeper layers of tissue and raises the core body temperature to stimulate perspiration. Infrared saunas are more comfortable than traditional saunas because they operate at cooler temperatures (100° – 150° verses 200°).
The infrared sauna experience is similar to sitting in the sun on a cool day and feeling the heat radiate to the core of your body or getting into a warm car that has been heated by the sun even though the outside air is cool. It is very gentle and elicits that wonderful, healthy feeling of well-being.
Why Full Spectrum?
There are three bandwidths of infrared wavelengths: near, mid and far. They each have unique qualities and benefits:
• Cell Health/Immunity
• Wound Healing
• Pain Relief
• Skin Purification
• Weight Loss
• Improved Circulation
• Pain Relief
• Weight Loss
• Hypertension (High Blood Pressure)
• Toxin Overload
• Heavy Metal Toxicity
• Multiple Chemical Sensitivities
• Muscle and Joint Pain
• Soft Tissue Injury
• Lyme Disease
• Chronic Fatigue Syndrome
• Rheumatoid Arthritis
• Menstrual Pain
• Brain Fog
• Sinus Congestion
• Weight Control
• Aging Skin
• Colds and Flu
• Digestive Problems
Physiological Effects of Full Spectrum Heat Therapy
• Increased heart rate; improving cardiovascular circulation, especially at the surface of the skin
• Enhanced lymphatic circulation; improving detoxification
• Increased production of beneficial hormones to enhance relaxation and reduce stress
• Improved metabolism by increased production of thyroxin
• Increased production of enzymes, reducing inflammation and improving metabolism
• Relaxation of muscles
• Selective stimulation of the parasympathetic nervous system to enhance relaxation and reduce stress
• The killing or disabling of microbes that can cause infection
• Boosting serotonin levels to help mood
Produces a deep, detoxifying sweat at the cellular level, where most toxins reside. Sweat is the only way to remove certain carcinogenic PCBs, dioxins, phthalates, and volatile organic hydrocarbons. The sweat produced by infrared heat consists of nearly 20% toxins versus only 3% in a traditionally heated sauna. Sweating during exercise is not nearly as effective because exercise activates the sympathetic nervous system, which inhibits toxin elimination. Our detoxification program can be used as a tool to help relieve symptoms AND as a preventative tool to increase overall health. We recommend three sauna sessions during the 10 Day Whole Health Cleanse or 6 sessions during the 30 Day Whole Health Detox.
Heat activates neurological, vascular and metabolic mechanisms to mediate the transmission of pain. Near infrared has also been shown to significantly increase the range of flexibility. For semi-acute injuries we recommend three sessions within two weeks and for chronic pain conditions including fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome and arthritis we recommend two sessions a month.
Clinical studies have shown that a 30-minute session can burn up to 600 calories. Growth hormone, which increases muscle mass, calcium retention and lipolysis (the breakdown of stored fat) is released by an increase in body temperature. Metabolism is also boosted. For the most benefit we recommend weekly sessions. On average, with only six sessions, our patients have lost between 1-2 inches from each of their hips, midsection and chest.
Infrared heat easily penetrates human tissue to help with cellulite, acne, eczema, psoriasis, burns, and cuts. Near infrared improves the skin elasticity resulting in younger-looking, more beautiful skin. For best results we recommend weekly sessions for six weeks.
As the body cools itself, there is an increase in heart rate, cardiac output and metabolic rate. Repeated sauna use can lower elevated blood pressure and cholesterol while improving the elasticity of the arteries. To gain full benefits we recommend sauna sessions twice a week for eight weeks.
Relax in comfort with an invigorating deep tissue sweat. Because sauna therapy stimulates the parasympathetic nervous system it enables the body to relax, heal and regenerate. This is especially helpful for those with a stressful lifestyle and those experiencing depression and/or anxiety.
